As August comes to a close, we’re recapping the most noteworthy highlights from the month.

 

Mindfulness in the Workplace

Last month, Alisa Blum and Judy Sugg from AIM for Organizational Health gave two workshops that looked at ways to boost productivity and master time management using the principles of mindfulness. The workshops were centered around useful tools within everyone’s reach, which help individuals drown out internal noises to stay focused in a calm, balanced way. Read our interview with them here.

NetRush attends Outdoor Retailer Summer Market

Solar Eclipse  

The coast-to-coast solar eclipse of 8/21/2017 was a historic event. To mark the occasion, the team at NetRush donned some shades and stepped outside to take in as much of it as we could in both Vancouver, Washington and Hebron, Kentucky.

Operation Gratitude

For operation gratitude, our processing facility in Kentucky collected:

 

  • 1,781 pieces of chewing gum
  • 1,147 Sunwarrior Sol Good Bars
  • 292 various snacks
  • 216 batteries
  • 100 ENO Carabiners
  • 84 pairs of socks (60 of which were Swiftwick)
  • and 46 priceless letters.

NetRush Visits Peet Dryer

The dry-feet-by-Peet legacy began in 1968 in St. Maries, Idaho, where inventor and sportsman Gene Peet developed the world’s first footwear dryer. After an invitation from the brand, NetRush’s Craig Phillips and Terrence Saracco took a trip to St. Maries to experience the Peet Dryer legacy firsthand.

At the Peet Dryer facility, creativity and craftsmanship run rampant — handmade machinery and parts are seen throughout the building, as Terrence points out. “A lot of the machines they use didn’t exist before. Gene has the background to imagine what he wants and build it.” As the original creators of shoe dryers, Peet Dryer had to create one-of-a-kind solutions to produce their products at scale. There was no go-to shoe-dryer-making-machine. “They used to go around to garage sales and pick up old machinery, just so they could build stuff out of them. I think there was only one machine in the entire facility that was bought and installed without any modifications at all.”
